A recent article describes how a hacker informed law enforcement of an individual who released a video of a military chopper shooting civilians and news correspondents. It was the other data the individual had in his possession that was dangerous and telling. Classified data that had the possibility to disrupt United States foreign policies and bring on more deaths.

The individual used a very simple method to steal the sensitive data. Using a CD with rewritable capabilities, he brought the medium to work, disguised as a music CD, delete the music files on the CD, and use it to copy and store the sensitive information. In the individual’s own words, "Servers without a strong defense, including logging, decreased physical security and counterintelligence, along with inattentive signal analysis made this possible."

This is a cry for much more intensive security of information on all fronts, no matter who or where the information lies.
